THE 34TH ELKO MINING EXPO IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!
June 3-7, miners from all over the world will gather in northeastern Nevada to network, learn about the latest industry trends, and celebrate another great year of Nevada mining. Whether you’re a first-timer or a long-timer, here are five must-stop places in and around Elko.
The Star is one of Nevada’s premiere Basque restaurants. Stop by for a traditional Basque dinner and try one of their world-famous picon punches (but never more than two). If you leave the Star hungry, it’s your own fault.
The Western Folklife Center is home to one of the best collections of American Western art in the country. The center hosts rotating exhibitions throughout the year and also hosts the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering every January.
Machi’s is a must stop in Elko. Featuring food from every corner of the world and the best wine selection in town, you’ll find something you love at Machi’s.
Lamoille Canyon/Ruby Mountains
In need of some fresh air? Visit one Nevada’s premiere recreational areas in Lamoille Canyon. Just a sort drive from Elko, Lamoille Canyon is home to over 100 miles of trails, fishing, and also offers a beautiful 12-mile scenic drive.
The canyon suffered a damaging wildfire in the fall of 2018, but the main road was recently re-opened to the public and the area still offers some of the most remarkable views anywhere in Nevada.
Meet up with the Nevada Mining Association
The Elko Mining Expo is all about networking and growing your business in Nevada’s mining industry. Joining the NvMA is one of the best ways to gain access to the Silver State’s original STEM industry. Stop by booth 150 during the expo and learn how NvMA membership can connect your business to the Nevada mining supply chain.
Additionally, the NvMA is hosting a number of member-only events and get-togethers. If you want to take part, call the Nevada Mining Association office at (775) 829-2121 and learn how you can sign up before the expo begins!
