5 Nevada Mining Stories You May Have Missed in 2019
2019 is nearly at an end. It’s been a busy year in Nevada mining, and the NvMA Mineblog has been there to help tell the industry’s story. Here are 5 of our favorite blog posts from 2019.

The NvMA held its 3rd annual Why I Love Nevada contest in October. Over one-hundred people submitted comments and the voting for a final winner went down to the last minute. Click the link to view the finalist’s submissions and see who emerged victorious.
3) Nevada Mining Ingenuity: The Sutro Tunnel
Nevada mining is Nevada’s original STEM industry and the nearly four-mile long Sutro Tunnel exemplifies the amazing engineering work that the industry was responsible for in the 19th century.

Nevada has several ghost towns with interesting stories to tell, but few are as bizarre as Aurora’s. The town was so remote that it took years just to find out what state its citizens belonged to.
5) Safety Award Recipients (Individual Awards/Operator Awards)
The highlight of every year for the Nevada Mining Association is recognizing the men, women, and mine operators across the state that exemplify the mining industry’s dedication to workplace safety. This year, 53 individuals and 34 operators were celebrated for their great work at the NvMA’s convention in September.
