What is your background?
I’m from Buffalo, NY. BA English from Cornell, MA Journalism from University of Michigan. Came to Vegas in ’74 and night police reporter. Started covering politics in 1986. Have worked for all three newspapers as a columnist. Been a commentator on local and national TV. Hosted TV programs for 15 years. Started The Indy in Jan. 2017.
What are the statewide races to watch this November?
Gov and Senate should be close and have national significance. Stay tuned for the speech for more.
Will there be any tight congressional or state legislative races?
CD3 and CD4 could be tight. But both Lean D.
I expect, as always, some tight leg races. Real question is if Dems can get to supermajority in both houses. Unlikely but possible.
Are there any ballot questions to keep an eye on?
Question 3 is the most important item on the ballot, including any of the races.
Looking ahead to the 2019 Nevada Legislative Session, what issues do you think will loom largest in Carson City?
Energy, education, $$$$.
