CARSON CITY, Nev. (Jan. 3, 2013) – The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) and the Nevada Mining Association today announced the hire of Todd Valline as Mining Industry Specialist for GOED. Valline will be based in Elko because of its central proximity to Nevada’s mining region. The Nevada Mining Association funds a portion of his salary.
In September 2012, Steve Hill announced that GOED and the Nevada Mining Association were forming a new statewide Supply Chain Committee to encourage mining support businesses to establish and expand their footprints in Nevada. A host of businesses support the mines today –from information technology to security and administration, to equipment repair and maintenance – and many of these are located out of state. The committee will encourage these companies to establish a stronger presence, creating new jobs and expanding intellectual capital.
“As a seasoned business professional, Todd will work within GOED and alongside the Nevada Mining Association to further boost the economic development of this core Nevada industry,” said Steve Hill, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. “Through Todd, the issues and challenges faced by the Nevada mining industry will be brought to light so that both the State and the Nevada Mining Association can work to expand the footprint of mining support businesses in Nevada.”
“With Todd’s hire, we’ve found a great individual to advance the growth of mining’s supply chain throughout Nevada,” said Tim Crowley, President of the Nevada Mining Association. “I look forward to working with him and seeing the positive effects his efforts have on the industry.”
A long-time resident of Northeastern Nevada, Valline comes to GOED with several years of sales and marketing experience, including his most recent position as Industrial Sales Manager for International Fog, Inc. Valline’s skills in building strong internal and external customer relationships will go miles to help secure more mining support companies in Nevada.
