Tell us about yourself and your career.
I’ve been working in journalism and strategic communications for more than 10 years. I began my career in television at CNN and New England Cable News (NECN), the largest regional news network in the country. Following a move to the West coast, I worked for SHIFT communications, a large, bi-coastal integrated communications agency. After a brief hiatus to obtain my Master’s degree, I returned to TV news as a reporter for KRNV News 4, Reno’s NBC affiliate. After 4 wonderful years, I decided to return to my PR roots and join the team at FFW.
As an account executive at FFW PR, one of my clients is the Nevada Mining Association. I assist the association with everything from drafting blog posts and other web material, to managing media inquiries.
What is the most fun thing about your job?
I love that no two days are alike. It’s a fast-paced industry with lots of change. Some days are spent writing and event planning while others are spent on the road with media. It’s never boring and I enjoy that I’m constantly meeting new and interesting people. You never stop learning in the public relations field. Public relations requires a great deal of intellectual curiosity. Whether conducting research for a new project or trouble shooting a client issue, you become smarter and more aware of the world every day.
What are some things you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love to travel, exercise and spend time with my family.
Explain why you selected this picture.
This is a photo of my husband and me at La Boqueria in Barcelona, Spain on our Honeymoon. I chose it because it encompasses my favorite things in life; travel, family and of course, food!
If you had a theme song, what song would it be? Why?
George Gershwin “Rhapsody In Blue.” Growing up, I always loved going to visit my family on the east coast. I remember this song always played as we boarded the plane. It brings back great memories and evokes a sense of adventure.
