Earth Science & Education
The Nevada Mining Association (NVMA) is committed to equipping teachers with the knowledge and tools to deliver quality K-12 earth science instruction. The NVMA hosts two earth science workshops annually, one in Southern Nevada and one in Northern Nevada. These workshops focus on a broad range of earth science topics, including mineral and rock identification, rock formation, geologic processes, the importance of mined materials, and the role that mining plays in 21st-century lives. Teachers are provided tools for accurate, standards-based science lessons. Workshops include tours of operating mines and geologic sites of interest.
The workshops provide:
- The opportunity to receive professional development credit
- The ability to share earth science knowledge with peers
- Completed, ready-to-use, grade level appropriate lessons plans.
