In celebration of America 250, this statewide art contest invites K-12 students across Nevada to explore how mining has shaped Nevada, strengthened the nation, and continues to power America’s future. Through original artwork, student artists will tell the story of Nevada’s mining, honoring 250 years of progress and imagining what comes next.
Contest Overview
This is your chance to tell Nevada’s story through art, from where it started to where it stands today and where it’s headed next.
- Original artwork inspired by Nevada mining
- Themes can include history, innovation, or the future
- Open to all K–12 students across Nevada
- A great classroom activity (see classroom guide here)!
Prizes & Recognition
Winning artwork will be recognized through a public exhibition, with one student receiving a grand prize experience.
Exhibition Recognition
- 15 student artworks selected for a public exhibition
- Representation from across Nevada
Grand Prize
- Throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Reno Aces Mining Night (June 27, 2026)
- One-night hotel stay in Reno
- Suite tickets for the student and their family
