What are you looking forward to most about hosting the event this year?
I’m looking forward to introducing the other schools to Nevada’s rich mining history that started in Virginia City and showing them why Nevada is a world leader in mining. This is my senior year and it’s an honor to able to host this prestigious event for all the schools that have hosted in the past.
What made you want you want to join the Muckers?
I started out playing football at UNR and went to one mining team practice and fell in love with the significance of the old techniques the miners used on a day-to-day basis. The competitive nature of this physical sport was also very appealing to me.
What events do you compete in/are your favorite?
I compete in every event except for survey. My favorite event is Jackleg because I used to Jackleg underground at Golden Sunlight in Montana.
What do you want to do after you graduate?
I’m looking forward to starting a career in the financial side of the mining industry.
