Name: Allison Anderson
Job Title: Office Manager/Administrative Executive
How are you liking your first month at the NvMA?
My first month with NvMA has flown by. I felt instantly welcomed and have loved getting to know the members and learning more about the robust mining industry. I am grateful for everyone’s willingness to share their knowledge and experience. It has been exciting to see how collaborative our members are. I’ve enjoyed being involved in a variety of projects and to making new connections all over Nevada and beyond. I am looking forward to attending all of the upcoming events and going on my first mine tour.
What is your role at the NvMA?
In my role as the Office Manager/Administrative Executive to the President I get to interact daily with our members, the public and our team. I coordinate scheduling and act as a liaison for the Executive Board, Board of Directors and the Environmental Committee. Most importantly, I ensure that we don’t run out of coffee.
What has your career path looked like?
I majored in journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno with a focus on public relations and advertising. Following graduation, I joined The Impetus Agency as an Assistant Account Executive working on behalf of clients including the American Pet Products Association. In my most recent role, I assisted veterinary practices to plan, execute and monitor their online communications strategies to cultivate dialog, build brand loyalty and drive new clients through the front door of practices. I have had the chance to be involved with marketing projects within several industries including healthcare, veterinary care, luxury real estate and pet products. I have always been drawn to positions that allow me to wear different hats and flex my creative muscles.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I absolutely love living in Nevada because there is always something to do! My husband and I have three kids, and when we aren’t busy with soccer, Girl Scouts or t-ball we like to camp, ride bikes, cheer on the Buffalo Bills and visit family in California.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself that most people don’t know?
I consider myself a relocation expert. As a military spouse, I have survived over 10 cross country moves and lived in 6 states including California, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina.
I also recently won a costume contest for my Captain Jack Sparrow impersonation:
