Today, the state of Nevada holds approximately $4.5 billion in reclamation bonding.

That same level of discipline carries over into workplace safety. Mining is one of Nevada’s safest industries, supported by a strong, built-in safety culture. From safety shares at the start of meetings to pre- and post-shift inspections and ongoing hazard mitigation, the focus is consistent: every worker goes home safe at the end of the day. Technology continues to support that goal, with advancements such as automated haul trucks and drilling tools that help further reduce risk.
The industry’s impact extends well beyond the mine site. Mining supports 30,000 careers across all 17 Nevada counties. Those careers pay an average salary of $120,200, making it one of the state’s highest paying industries and roughly 80% higher than the state median income. In addition to paying all standard state and local taxes, mining also contributes through two industry-specific taxes. In the 2023 to 2024 biennium, the industry generated $930 million in revenue for the state. Overall, mining contributed $16.2 billion in economic activity in 2024, supporting local economies and businesses that communities rely on.
Looking ahead, Nevada mining is well positioned to remain a global leader. As the United States works to strengthen domestic supply chains, the state is expected to play a central role. Nevada is home to deposits of several strategic minerals that are currently sourced from abroad, and to the continued development of resources such as gold.
