What has your career path looked like?
Sometimes like Mt Everest, sometimes like a round-about. Always fluid.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy being able to use all the knowledge, skills, and creativity I picked up in the last 40 years or so to help bring sustainable and beneficial economic development to the communities we serve. I love partnering with optimistic and resourceful local leaders and government staff who care deeply about their community.
Were there any women who inspired your career?
As a corporate dropout (explained by the “Me Too” Movement), I turned a personal interest in real estate into a long and rewarding career. In the late 70’s I met Elaina Blake, a successful broker and real estate developer, and saw her excel in a world dominated by men. She inspired me and I turned toward industrial development and investment, enjoying several decades of challenges and successes.
What professional advice would you give to young women?
Be ready to adapt, be compassionate and passionate, never lose your moral compass, believe in yourself and work well with others. Never let compensation lead your judgement and recognize those who do. Keep your energy positive and it will keep flowing. Share it.
